Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Accountant II - Lease administers the Company’s lease-accounting process and maintains accurate lease records in LeaseQuery. This position is responsible for collecting New Lease Intake Forms and supporting documentation, reviewing submissions for completeness and accuracy, entering lease information into LeaseQuery, preparing and posting lease-related journal entries, and reconciling LeaseQuery balances to the general ledger.
The Accountant II - Lease works closely with operating departments and Accounting to ensure leases are recorded accurately and in accordance with Company accounting policies and ASC 842.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collect and analyze completed New Lease Intake Forms, executed lease agreements, amendments, renewals, terminations, and other supporting documentation.
Enter new leases, lease renewals, lease terminations, and other lease changes into LeaseQuery, including accurate general ledger coding information.
Maintain organized and complete lease files and supporting documentation.
Provide guidance to operating departments regarding lease-intake requirements and supporting documentation.
Review LeaseQuery calculations and reports for reasonableness and investigate unexpected results.
Assist with LeaseQuery testing, system updates, and implementation of approved process or system changes.
Prepare and post approved lease journal entries to the general ledger.
Reconcile LeaseQuery balances to the general ledger each month, including preparing reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation.
Investigate and resolve differences between LeaseQuery and the general ledger.
Assist with period-end reporting and lease-related financial statement disclosures.
Perform lease-accounting activities in accordance with ASC 842 and company accounting policies.
Assist with process improvements and updates to lease-accounting procedures to improve accuracy, efficiency, documentation, and internal controls.
Assist with research and documentation related to unusual or non-standard lease terms and lease-accounting questions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and practices, general-ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Ability to analyze financial information, identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and resolve issues using sound judgment.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing with employees, operating departments, and other stakeholders.
Ability to work in a Native Corporation multi-business environment.
Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and effectively use Company-specific accounting and financial systems.
