Your mission at WorkNomads: You'll own the real-time voice and language layer that makes Brain Buddy feel like a responsive, trustworthy companion rather than a chatbot with a lag. Design, train, and fine-tune TTS and STT models that power real-time conversational interaction across multiple tools and systems, relevant to health-tech. Adapt commercial speech and foundation models into low-latency, production-grade pipelines suited to live, back-and-forth user sessions. Improve model accuracy, latency, robustness, and scalability under real usage load Fine-tune and evaluate models against own interaction data Build evaluation methodologies specific to conversational and speech quality Investigate and resolve inference bottlenecks as usage scales — including planning for the cost/performance inflection points we're tracking Collaborate directly with the product, data annotation, and infrastructure pods to take models from prototype to production deployment. Requirements We want to hear from you if you have: 10+ years in product development, with substantial hands-on ML engineering experience and AI foundation models Proven experience training, fine-tuning, or optimizing TTS and/or STT models Experience adapting commercial speech or foundation models for production use cases. Strong grounding in low-latency inference architecture for live interaction systems. Fluency with modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent). Strong understanding of cloud deployment architectures and optimization for multi real-time systems Experience with large-scale data and distributed computing environments. Excellent written and spoken English; able to work independently in a fast-moving, technically ambiguous environment.
