Job Description
We offer a merit-based work-from-home program based on job responsibilities. After initial training in-person, this specific role could have the flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Please note that we are not currently hiring fully remote positions. Our tech office for this role is in Lansing, Michigan only.
Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a web developer to join our Analytics Web Systems team. This role will focus on developing and supporting .NET applications and integrations that connect AWS-hosted services and data with on-premises systems. Responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and supporting software applications for new and existing systems. The position requires the person to:
Design, develop, test, and maintain applications and services using C# and .NET
Develop and support integrations between AWS services and on-premises applications, APIs, and databases
Build and maintain REST APIs and service-to-service integrations
Develop and support .NET applications using AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, and IAM
Troubleshoot application and integration issues across AWS and on-premises environments
Work with SQL Server and SQL-based data integrations
Implement secure and reliable application communication using appropriate authentication, authorization, secrets management, logging, error handling, and resiliency patterns
Write automated tests and develop clean, maintainable code within a shared codebase
Work with Infrastructure as Code to deploy and maintain AWS resources
Effectively communicate and collaborate with developers, platform engineers, business partners, and other technical teams
Identify and recommend opportunities to improve application reliability, maintainability, and development processes
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
Strong professional experience developing applications using C# and .NET
Experience developing backend services, REST APIs, or system integrations
Professional experience developing or supporting applications in AWS
Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM
Strong understanding of object-oriented design and modern software development best practices
Experience with relational databases and SQL, preferably SQL Server
Experience with automated testing, Git, and CI/CD practices
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, SAM, Terraform, or similar tools
Experience with containerized .NET applications, serverless or event-driven architectures, API security, or production application monitoring
