$92,500.00 - $152,875.00
Hematology Oncology Associates of Fredericksburg is continuing to expand and we are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant (NP/PA) with a keen interest in Oncology to help us continue to provide top notch cancer care in our community! This role entails assisting the physicians when they are rounding at Mary Washington Hospital on patients with both new and previously diagnosed hematology and oncology diagnoses.
As part of the team, this advanced practice provider (APP) will deliver medical oncology and hematology care to patients acting in collaboration with physicians and other providers in the practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent physical assessment and communication skills, as well as a strong desire to work with adult cancer patients.
Position Summary:
Assists physician in the care and teaching of patients.
Key Performance Areas:
KPA 1 – Inpatient support
Conduct hospital rounds.
Assist with admissions and discharges.
Provide on-call support.
KPA 2 – Assessment
Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining a comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
Prescribe medications and make recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment.
Refer patient to appropriate sources of care as clinically indicated.
KPA 3 – Documentation
Ability to counsel patients concerning medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification.
Maintain appropriate records detailing the patient’s treatment plans and outcomes.
Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds the scope of practice and /or expertise.
Capture charges in a timely manner.
KPA 4 – Communication
Effectively communicate with admitting and referring team.
Triage and respond to all forms of communication in a timely manner.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Position Qualifications/Requirements:
Education :
Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant program
Master’s degree required
Certifications/Licenses :
APRN or PA license in appropriate state
Prescriptive privileges or eligible to apply
Maintain Board Certification
Current BLS
Previous Experience :
Minimum 5 years experience as APRN or PA, Oncology required
