Position Title: Assistant Director, Bookstore Bryn Mawr College: Bookshop Location: Bryn Mawr College Campus Job Description: Position Overview: The Bryn Mawr College Bookstore seeks an experienced, dynamic, energetic and outgoing retail professional to provide supervision, direction and training to front-line customer service associates and to oversee general merchandise. Reporting to the Bookstore Director, the Assistant Director will participate in all aspects of the store’s daily operations, including purchasing, inventory control, customer service, cash handling, record keeping and online order fulfillment.  The Assistant Director maximizes promotion and display opportunities within the store and on the bookstore’s website/social media platforms. This full-time staff position has an anticipated schedule of 35 hours per week and will require working weekends and/or additional hours during peak periods or special events. Weekend and additional hours to support campus wide events are anticipated to occur up to five (5) times per year. Waiting periods may apply.   Position Responsibilities: Provide guidance and direction to student associates and staff. Maintain the store’s appearance through visual merchandising, organizing and cleaning. Purchase general merchandise (clothing, gifts, stationery, food & beverages, etc.) Support both the academic and trade book sides of the store by maintaining stock, processing orders, and keeping displays current. Manage the register and assist with customer requests. Receive and process incoming shipments. Manage inventory on the sales floor, in the stock room, store’s systems, and on store websites. Manage and coordinate the purchasing of merchandise and promotional items to support college departmental needs, including serving as the primary liaison with existing vendors on orders, pricing, and fulfillment. Support daily operations, including opening and closing, store security, cash handling, etc. Provide content for social media and store website. Plan events, promotions and sales. Prepare reports and analyses reflecting progress and trends. Make recommendations regarding store policies and procedures. Assume responsibility for store operations in the absence of the Director.
