Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager – Procurement to manage and coordinate key procurement activities while ensuring the timely availability of quality materials at the right cost and within required timelines. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end procurement operations, supplier development, import coordination, inventory optimization, risk management, and cost reduction initiatives while working closely with multiple business functions to support production and customer commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end procurement activities for local and overseas materials.
Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable local and international suppliers.
Negotiate material prices, MOQs, payment terms, lead times, and commercial conditions.
Review and authorize Purchase Orders in line with approved requirements and delegated authority.
Review monthly material requirements against production plans, forecasts, stock levels, and open purchase orders.
Monitor material availability and ensure timely in-house delivery to support production and customer requirements.
Manage procurement requirements related to export and customer-specific orders.
Coordinate imports, shipping schedules, ETDs, ETAs, freight arrangements, and clearing activities.
Review freight quotations and import-related duties, taxes, and associated charges.
Prepare and review final landed costs of imported materials.
Monitor raw material inventory and control excess, slow-moving, and non-moving stock.
Manage MOQ-related excess materials and identify opportunities for optimum utilization.
Coordinate with Quality teams and suppliers to resolve incoming material quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Ensure purchased materials and suppliers comply with customer requirements and regulatory standards.
Coordinate TIEP-related procurement activities, chemical licences, and regulatory approvals.
Identify supply chain risks and develop alternative sourcing and contingency plans.
Drive material cost reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations, alternative sourcing strategies, and improved shipment planning.
Prepare procurement, supplier performance, inventory, material availability, and cost-related reports for management.
Guide and support procurement team members in their day-to-day responsibilities.
Train and develop new recruits and trainees within the Procurement function.
Work closely with Planning, Production, R&D, Quality, Stores, Finance, Imports, Marketing, Costing, and other departments.
Candidate Profile
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Management, Engineering , or a related discipline.
Professional qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Logistics will be an added advantage.
