About Qualitas
Qualitas is a leading ASX-listed Australian alternative real estate investment manager, specialising in real estate private credit and real estate private equity. For 18 years we have been helping our partners realise their vision and delivering attractive risk-adjusted returns to our investors.
About the position
The Associate Director, Risk and Compliance is the senior technical role in our Group Risk and Compliance function and deputy to the Director. You will hold day-to-day accountability for compliance, financial crime and enterprise risk across a listed, multi-licensed investment group operating in Australia and the UK. The role is equal parts judgement and delivery: forming and defending views on what matters and what must be reported, while modernising how the Group evidences compliance so that manual effort falls over time.
Location: Melbourne Employment Type: Permanent Full-time
Key responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day running of the Group’s compliance, AML/CTF and enterprise risk programs as deputy to the Director, Risk and Compliance.
Interpret regulatory obligations across the Group’s licences and jurisdictions, form and defend views on materiality and reportability, and keep the business informed of what matters.
Design and run the compliance monitoring program, test whether controls actually work, and manage incidents and breaches through to remediation.
Prepare clear, decision-focused risk and compliance reporting for senior management and Board-level committees.
Lead the move from manual registers to a single system of record, using workflow, automation and AI to measurably reduce manual effort.
What you’ll bring to the role
Substantial experience in compliance or risk within financial services, ideally in funds management, private credit or real estate investment.
A track record of running compliance and financial crime programs end to end, with personal accountability for outcomes and regulator engagement.
The regulatory judgement to interpret obligations, weigh materiality and give a clear, defensible view when the answer is not obvious.
Experience delivering a systems or process improvement program through to completion, and a practical interest in using automation and AI responsibly.
Credibility with senior stakeholders, including executives, Boards and auditors, and the ability to influence people who don’t report to you.
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience, with strong written and verbal communication.
We recognise that our people are our greatest strength and as an equal opportunity employer, we are committed to celebrating diversity and fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace where all employees are empowered to thrive.
