About the Role We are hiring a Backend Engineer to help build the secure and scalable digital core of ADAPT the platform transforming how the energy sector collaborates and transacts. The role focuses on designing backend systems that seamlessly connect buyers and suppliers across the supply chain, from urgent equipment breakdowns to complex planned turnarounds. You will engineer the systems that ensure real-time visibility, process automation, and intelligent orchestration of supply and demand, helping energy companies achieve operational excellence at industrial scale. Key Responsibilities Core Development Design and implement RESTful APIs to enable real-time communication between buyers and suppliers, supporting both planned and urgent procurement needs. Architect scalable solutions using microservices to ensure high availability and performance for live procurement boards, supplier sourcing, and real-time inventory visibility. Design and optimise databases for complex supply-chain data, including supplier qualifications, inventory tracking, and performance metrics. Implement robust security controls, including authentication and authorisation via OAuth 2.0 with Azure Active Directory, ensuring secure access across multiple user groups. Technical Excellence Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks in mission-critical systems supporting industrial operations. Develop solutions that scale from routine maintenance to large turnaround events, supporting dynamic and real-time operations. Build live control-room capabilities, automated data capture, and performance dashboards. Leverage serverless architectures to deliver cost-effective scalability. Maintain version control (Git) and collaborate effectively within distributed global teams. Continuous Improvement Ensure code maintainability through clear documentation, rigorous reviews, and adherence to standards for safety-critical systems.
