At Boxcar, our product is a good time. For us, that means cold drinks, exciting games, great pizza, and even better people.
Boxcar has four locations across North Carolina. We’re not a chain. We value personality. What ties each spot together is a team that cares deeply about making each guest’s night a great one and looking out for one another.
Our vibe is eclectic, sometimes eccentric, but always welcoming. Our customers are a mix of pinball regulars, after-work crews, party-goers, competitive skee-ballers, and folks who just want a smooth drink in a place that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Our Barbacks are the backbone of the operation. We are looking for people with a high motor who can anticipate needs before they happen. If you want to learn the industry from the ground up and aren't afraid of hard work, this is where you start.
Learn the flow. Your main job is to support the bartenders so they never have to stop pouring. You anticipate needs—ice, fruit, glassware—before they run dry.
Master the prep. You’ll learn the mechanics of the bar, from changing kegs and cleaning draft lines to organizing the cooler and cutting fruit to par.
Earn your stripes. You handle the heavy lifting—stocking beer and wine, washing the glassware, and managing trash. It’s hard work, but it’s how you prove you can handle the rush.
Protect the environment. You keep the bar top wiped down, the mats sprayed, and the service areas spotless. A messy bar is a slow bar.
Event muscle. For private parties, you assist with the setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and linens, ensuring the event space is ready for showtime.
Our Non-Negotiables
No a**holes. We value kindness, honesty, integrity, and consideration. If you can’t abide by that, Boxcar isn’t the place for you.
One team, one dream. We don’t do silos or pass the buck. Pitch in and help out, even if it’s not your core responsibility. No job is too small.
What Else We’re Looking For
Hustle. You have a keen eye for detail and can move fast without losing your cool.
Conscientiousness. You take the job seriously, but you don’t take yourself too seriously.
Genuine hospitability. You like people, and it shows in how you work.
Physicality. You are able to stand for 8 hours, lift up to 50 lbs solo, and move kegs with a teammate.
Reliability. Full stop. Show up, on time, every time.
Availability. You are ready to work weekends, closing shifts, and private events as the business needs.
Requirements. Must be 21 years of age or older.
