Job Description
Role Overview
The Benefits Payroll Administrator plays an important role within the Benefits Payroll Team, supporting the effective administration of paying client income and ensuring that requests are processed accurately, efficiently and within agreed timescales.
Working within a busy operational environment, the role involves processing a range of transactions relating to clients’ Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs), while also supporting internal teams with income-related queries.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable working to tight deadlines, with a strong focus on accuracy, risk awareness and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Vet incoming requests for new and amended income payments
Ensure all client money received is identified and matched promptly.
Process payments across various banking systems.
Input new client bank account details accurately onto internal systems.
Process reports to identify potential issues with upcoming payments
Close client SIPPs in accordance with established procedures.
Create and process MPAA letters
Process newly established income fees
Cancel standing orders and disinvestments as required
Input new money movements onto internal systems
Monitor and manage the team mailbox, ensuring queries and requests are dealt with promptly.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments and key stakeholders.
Ensure all internal service levels and deadlines are consistently met.
Escalate issues, delays and exceptions to the Team Manager where appropriate.
Proactively identify potential risks or control issues within the department and escalate concerns appropriately.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Benefit Payroll processes and ways of working.
Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures, regulatory requirements and relevant controls.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
Previous experience working within a payroll, banking, financial services or pensions environment.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use formulas, manipulate and analyse data and perform data checks and reconciliations.
Strong attention to detail with a proven ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
Comfortable working to tight deadlines and agreed service levels.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
A proactive approach to identifying issues, risks and opportunities for improvement.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
