The Role We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our rapidly growing team in Cambridge. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role is critical to maintain accurate financial records, process day-to-day financial transactions, and support the finance function by ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. Main Tasks & Responsibilities Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, journals, and accounts Process accounts payable and receivable transactions Reconcile bank statements and company accounts on a weekly basis Prepare and process invoices, payments, and expense reports Monitor cash flow and report any discrepancies Assist with payroll processing Support month-end and year-end closing processes Maintain financial documentation and filing systems Liaise with suppliers, clients, and internal teams regarding financial queries Who We’re Looking For You’ll be great in this role if you have: Proficiency in Xero accounting software Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills Strong numerical and analytical skills High level of accuracy and attention to detail Good organisational and time-management skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Good communication and interpersonal skills Problem-solving mindset Qualifications & Experience Essential: Previous experience in a bookkeeping or similar finance role Understanding of basic accounting principles Experience with Xero and Google Sheets Desirable: AAT or similar qualification Experience in antiques/jewellery industry Knowledge of UK VAT regulations and payroll processes Personal Attributes Trustworthy and able to handle confidential information Proactive and self-motivated Reliable and consistent Team player with a collaborative approach Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Accuracy of financial records Timeliness of transaction processing and reporting Successful completion of reconciliations Compliance with financial regulations and internal procedures What You’ll Get: 4-day working week (Monday to Thursday) Access to Bright Exchange - enjoy thousands of exclusive employee discounts and perks Employee Assistance Programme - confidential, 24/7 support for you and your immediate family, covering work, personal, and home life matters On-demand professional development - access to BrightHR’s online learning platform to build new skills and support your career progression Competitive pay Be part of a rapidly growing, friendly UK brand …
