Role
The Business Development Manager will lead strategic growth initiatives for Douglas Drilling & Blasting across Virginia and the broader Mid-Atlantic region. This leader will identify, pursue, and secure high-value opportunities in heavy civil construction, site development, infrastructure, transportation, energy, industrial construction, quarry operations, and specialized drilling and blasting services. The role combines strategic market expansion, relationship management, industry expertise, and a deep understanding of construction and earthwork operations.
Core Responsibilities
Market Expansion
Develop and execute a regional growth strategy targeting general contractors, developers, engineering firms, transportation agencies, utilities, mining operations, and industrial owners throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Pipeline Development
Identify and develop opportunities for drilling, blasting, rock excavation, quarry development, and site preparation projects, managing pursuits from initial lead generation through contract execution.
Client Acquisition
Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers including contractors, developers, engineers, estimators, project executives, public sector agencies, and industrial clients.
Proposal Leadership
Lead the pursuit process for RFPs, RFQs, and negotiated opportunities, coordinating with estimating, operations, and executive leadership to develop competitive proposals and presentations.
Partnership Development
Establish and strengthen strategic relationships with engineering consultants, general contractors, aggregate producers, utility providers, transportation agencies, and industry partners.
Revenue Growth
Own annual business development objectives and revenue targets while driving sustainable growth across multiple market sectors.
