Job Description – Chemical Plant Operator
Position: Chemical Plant Operator
Experience: 6–7 years of relevant experience in Hydrometallurgy or Pharmaceutical Chemical Process Industries
Qualification: Minimum B.Sc. in Chemistry or equivalent qualification.
Job Location: Bhagwanpur (plot 172)
Job Purpose
To operate and monitor chemical process plant equipment safely and efficiently, ensure smooth production operations, maintain process parameters, and follow all safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor chemical process equipment such as reactors, agitators, pumps, filters/filter presses, centrifuges, dryers, dosing systems, storage tanks, and pipelines.
Handle chemical processes involving leaching, precipitation, filtration, washing, purification, crystallization, and solid-liquid separation.
Monitor and maintain critical process parameters such as temperature, pressure, pH, flow, level, agitation, and chemical dosing.
Carry out chemical charging and dosing as per approved SOPs, batch sheets, and process instructions.
Perform safe handling, transfer, and storage of acids, alkalis, solvents, and other process chemicals.
Coordinate with the production, maintenance, quality control, and EHS teams for smooth plant operation.
Carry out routine inspection of pumps, valves, pipelines, reactors, tanks, and other equipment.
Ensure proper start-up, shutdown, flushing, and cleaning of process equipment.
Maintain batch records, production logs, chemical consumption records, equipment checklists, and shift reports.
Support troubleshooting and corrective actions during process or equipment-related issues.
Ensure proper housekeeping and maintain 5S standards in the plant area.
Train and guide causal manpower a regarding safe plant operation and chemical handling.
Preferred Technical Experience
Candidates with experience in the following areas will be preferred:
Hydrometallurgical processes
Acid/alkali leaching
Chemical precipitation
Metal recovery and purification
Filtration and filter press operation, ANFD, Rcvd operation
Solid-liquid separation
Chemical dosing systems
pH and temperature control
Pharmaceutical chemical processing
Batch process operations
Chemical storage and transfer systems
Required Skills
Good understanding of chemical process operations
Basic knowledge of chemical reactions and process chemistry
Ability to read P&ID, process flow diagrams, and equipment layouts
Good understanding of pumps, valves, pipelines, reactors, and filtration equipment
Ability to identify process abnormalities and take appropriate first-level action
Good communication and shift coordination skills
Strong focus on safety and process discipline
Ability to work in rotational shifts
