Purpose of Position: The First Vice President, Climate Portfolio Manager, is responsible for senior-level oversight of the risk management and performance of the Bank’s climate and project finance portfolio. This role serves as a senior portfolio and credit leader within the Climate Lending platform, applying independent judgment to complex renewable energy relationships, providing guidance to junior staff, and ensuring portfolio practices align with the Bank’s risk appetite and regulatory expectations. In addition to managing a portfolio of complex or higher-risk relationships, this role leads portfolio onboarding, covenant and contractual compliance, performance monitoring, financial oversight, and the identification of emerging risks. The role also strengthens portfolio management practices, improves tools and processes, and represents the Climate PM function in internal governance, audit, and regulatory contexts. The position requires strong renewable energy and project finance expertise, sound credit judgment, demonstrated leadership, and the ability to work independently and influence outcomes across multiple stakeholders. Essential Job Functions: Senior Portfolio Oversight and Risk Leadership Provide senior-level oversight of portfolio risk, asset performance, cash flow trends, covenant compliance, and emerging issues across the climate finance portfolio. Independently evaluate complex renewable energy credits, project structures, operating performance, and non-routine issues. Review and challenge complex credit recommendations, risk ratings, covenant compliance, and exception requests, and make well-supported recommendations within delegated authority. Serve as a senior escalation point for portfolio issues, including underperforming assets, covenant concerns, and criticized relationships. Lead development of risk mitigation and remediation strategies, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders as needed. Ensure portfolio management practices are consistent with Bank policy, applicable regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and industry best practices. Credit Expertise and Decision Influence Provide expert guidance on renewable energy financing structures, covenant frameworks, contractual requirements, and risk identification. Challenge assumptions in underwriting, operating budgets, cash flow forecasts, and portfolio management to strengthen overall credit quality and asset performance. Contribute to policy interpretation and recommend enhancements to credit and portfolio management standards where appropriate. Represent the Climate PM perspective in internal credit committees, governance forums, audits, examinations, and cross-functional discussions. Perform independent research and analysis on renewable energy markets, regulatory developments, and portfolio performance trends.
