The Clinical Informaticist serves as the primary liaison between clinical operations, healthcare technology, data, and information systems. The position ensures that electronic health records (EHRs), clinical applications, decision-support tools, and related systems support safe, efficient, high-quality, and compliant patient care. The Clinical Informaticist translates clinical and operational needs into effective technology solutions and supports the implementation, optimization, governance, and evaluation of clinical information systems and workflows. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES Serves as a clinical subject-matter expert for the EHR and related clinical information systems. Participates in the evaluation, selection, implementation, configuration, testing, and optimization of clinical information systems. Develops and optimizes clinical documentation templates, order sets, workflows, alerts, reminders, care pathways, and decision-support tools. Evaluates clinical system functionality to ensure alignment with clinical, operational, regulatory, and patient-safety requirements. Coordinates with IT staff, vendors, contractors, and clinical leadership to resolve system issues and implement enhancements. Supports system upgrades, testing, change control, downtime planning, and business-continuity activities. Assesses clinical workflows and identifies opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, standardization, documentation, and continuity of care. Maps current and future-state clinical processes and translates clinical needs into functional and technical requirements. Facilitates workflow-design and process-improvement activities with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders. Identifies risks and unintended consequences associated with technology or workflow changes and recommends mitigation strategies. Designs, evaluates, and maintains evidence-informed clinical decision-support tools in collaboration with clinical leadership.
