Job Description:
Certified Nursing Assistant - CNA
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides high-quality, compassionate, and efficient patient care under the direction and supervision of licensed nursing staff. In alignment with Oregon’s updated 2025 CNA certification standards, the CNA performs a comprehensive range of clinical, clerical, and support functions that promote patient health, safety, and dignity. All CNA tasks are carried out under the direction of a Registered Nurse, who provides guidance and oversight to ensure safe and appropriate care delivery. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, collecting objective data, supporting therapeutic interventions, maintaining accurate documentation, coordinating unit activities, and ensuring a safe, clean, and organized environment.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct patient care including bathing, grooming, feeding, ambulating, toileting, and repositioning
Assist with safe patient transfers and mobility, using assistive devices and safe handling equipment
Monitor and document required cases, patient vital signs, pain levels, height, weight, intake/output, and report abnormalities.
Document care accurately and in a timely manner in the patient’s medical record
Obtain patient specimens and perform point-of-care testing (e.g., blood glucose, urine screening, occult blood) within scope of training and as directed by the RN/MD.
Assist with clinical interventions such as incentive spirometry, warm/cold therapies, bladder scans, and deep breathing exercises as directed by the RN.
Apply and remove restraints and sequential compression devices as directed by nursing staff
Respond to patient call lights and escalate patient needs outside of CNA scope to licensed nurse
Observe and communicate changes in patient condition, behavior, and needs to the RN
Provide 1:1 patient observation for safety and fall prevention as needed
