We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist to join a high-precision manufacturing operation supporting the aerospace, defense, and semiconductor industries . This position will focus on setting up and machining complex, tight-tolerance turned components in a highly technical, high-mix manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has a strong CNC turning background, can independently perform setups, and is comfortable troubleshooting and making adjustments at the machine. 2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, 2:30 PM–1:00 AM Four 10-hour shifts Fridays off Overtime opportunities available Pay: $35/hr What You'll Do: Perform complete setups on CNC lathes/turning centers for complex precision components. Set tooling, workholding, offsets, work coordinates, and cutting parameters. Set up and operate machines with live tooling, C-Axis, Y-Axis, and sub-spindle capabilities where applicable. Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensions, and tolerances. Prove out jobs and make necessary adjustments at the machine. Troubleshoot tooling, workholding, dimensional, and machining issues. Make G-code, tool, and offset adjustments as necessary. Perform in-process inspection using micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment. Maintain tight tolerances and ensure parts meet customer and engineering requirements. Work closely with CNC programmers, engineering, and quality to improve turning processes. Support both new and established jobs in a high-mix precision manufacturing environment. Requirements CNC lathe/turning setup experience in a precision manufacturing environment. Strong experience independently setting up and running CNC lathes. Experience with multi-axis turning, live tooling, C/Y-axis, and/or sub-spindle machines strongly preferred. Strong blueprint reading, GD&T, and dimensional inspection skills. Experience machining complex, tight-tolerance components. Working knowledge of G-code and CNC program adjustments. Experience with Nakamura-Tome, Hardinge, or similar CNC turning equipment is a plus. Mastercam experience is a plus. Aerospace, defense, semiconductor, medical, or other high-precision machining experience strongly preferred.
