The Commodity Account Manager supports sales and commodity management activities by coordinating daily tasks, managing information flow, and assisting with assigned sales or commodity responsibilities. This role contributes to smooth execution of sales operations and customer support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for commodity management, grower returns, and high level of customer service
Back-up for other Sales Associates/Commodity Managers during vacation, holiday and sick leave
Coordinate projects, reports and communication
Follow up on past due invoices twenty-one (21) days or older
Answer phones, input orders, fax & e-mail as job dictates
Maintain good working relationships with customers, receivers, employees, peers and supervisors including problem solving
Sell to assigned customers through phone, email and online account management activities
Make pricing, negotiation and service decisions as the key contact for assigned customers
Manage transportation logistics for X-dock, transfers and outside purchase product
Accountable for accurate order entry management (including quantity, price, product, customer, ship to, delivery instructions and any special instructions) into company system and, if needed, the customer system, and to monitor status of orders until confirmed received and/or cancelled
Confers with sales department regarding status of all commodity inventory daily, negotiates the best prices with outside customers and secures outside product to meet our sales demands
Minimize loss to the Company by processing all hold and consignment orders as well as settlements needed for troubled orders
Cooperates with accounting department to assure prompt collection of assigned account receivables; monitors and calls on invoices over twenty-one (21) days outstanding, responsible for all adjustments on invoices within thirty (30) days, follow up on all deductions within thirty (30) days of shipment
Maintains NAFTA certificates yearly
Must be willing and able to work Monday through Friday and alternating Saturdays; occasional travel will be required
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements and Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Business is required
Proficient in10-key calculator
Working knowledge of computers & software as utilized in the sales environment
MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Windows operating system, Famous software, ITrade, Food Link
Ability to consistently meet deadlines and work under pressure
Excellent written and verbal communicating skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and strong organization skills
Ability to carry out defined procedures and duties with specific instructions
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, customers and peers
Ability to manage a project from its initiation to completion with minimal supervision
