Job summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Composite Materials Qualification Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the material characterization, testing, and qualification of advanced composite systems. You will collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to support new product introduction and resolve material-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Evaluation & Selection: Evaluate and recommend composite materials—including carbon fiber, fiberglass, adhesives, and resin systems—based on performance, manufacturability, and cost for specific applications.
Testing & Characterization: Develop, coordinate, and perform comprehensive mechanical, thermal, and physical testing (e.g., tensile, compression, shear, DMA, TGA) to verify material performance against industry standards (ASTM, ISO, SAE).
Qualification & Documentation: Develop and maintain material specifications, qualification plans, and process guidelines. Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing findings, analysis, and recommendations.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field (aerospace composite materials focus is highly preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in composite materials engineering, R&D, or testing, preferably in aerospace, automotive.
Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of composite material properties, failure modes, and industry testing standards. Hands-on experience with composite fabrication methods and laboratory testing equipment is essential.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and test reports.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.5 /CET Level 6 or higher is mandatory to effectively draft technical documentation and collaborate with our global teams.
Soft Skills: Proven ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive, self-starting mindset.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Experience with characterization and non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods (e.g., ultrasonic, radiographic inspection) applied to composites as well as simulation/ modeling knowledge.
