We are seeking a senior litigator from a leading Greek law firm or an in-house legal function, with 8+ years' post-qualification experience and strong expertise in public procurement litigation. The ideal candidate combines courtroom experience with a preventive, commercially minded approach, and can protect the group's interests in competitive tender processes while keeping disputes to a minimum. You will join a dynamic, fast-growing GovTech business that bids for and delivers contracts for EU institutions and national public authorities across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the group's senior authority on dispute resolution, setting strategy and overseeing any litigation, arbitration or administrative proceedings involving ED's entities across jurisdictions.
Protect ED's position in public tenders: assess procurement decisions and, where appropriate, pursue or defend challenges before national review bodies, the Greek administrative courts and Council of State, and the EU General Court.
Advise senior management and bid teams at key tender milestones (evaluation, award, standstill) so decisions to challenge, intervene or defend are well founded and proportionate.
Prevent disputes by strengthening tender submissions, contract terms, and consortium and teaming agreements, drawing on procurement and litigation insight.
Resolve contractual issues with clients, subcontractors and consortium partners early, favouring negotiated outcomes that protect long-term relationships.
Select and manage external counsel in Greece, Luxembourg, Belgium and other jurisdictions when needed, ensuring strategy alignment and cost control.
Provide the CEO and the Board with clear, periodic reporting on legal risk and exposure, and give input to Finance where relevant.
Guide and support the in-house disputes team, promoting consistent quality and sound judgement.
Advise on contractual risk in EU institutional and public sector framework contracts, and support compliance, governance and M&A due diligence as required.
Requirements
LLB/LLM and qualification to practise law in Greece (member of the Athens Bar Association or equivalent); rights of audience before the higher courts preferred.
8+ years' experience in litigation and dispute resolution at a recognised Greek law firm or a comparable in-house role, with substantial public procurement litigation experience.
Strong knowledge of national procurement review procedures and EU public procurement law, including the EU Directives and the EU Financial Regulation rules for procurement by EU institutions; experience before the EU courts is a strong advantage.
Proven ability to assess legal risk proportionately, manage external counsel and budgets, and communicate clearly with senior management and boards.
Experience guiding or mentoring other lawyers.
Fluent English (written and spoken) is essential; French or other European languages are a strong plus.
Sound judgement, independence and the ability…
