About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure enterprise database environments while maintaining the highest standards for performance, availability, and data integrity. This role places a strong emphasis on protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) through encryption, access controls, and other data protection technologies.
The ideal candidate will possess both traditional database administration expertise and a strong understanding of database security, ensuring enterprise databases remain highly available, compliant, and protected against evolving security risks.
Responsibilities
Database Administration
Install, configure, administer, and maintain enterprise relational database platforms, including MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.
Monitor database performance and system health, proactively tuning queries, indexes, and storage to maximize efficiency.
Manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.
Maintain highly available database environments through replication, clustering, and failover technologies.
Perform capacity planning, database upgrades, patch management, and lifecycle maintenance activities.
Troubleshoot complex database issues while partnering with application development teams on schema design, query optimization, and overall database performance improvements.
Database Security & PII Encryption
Design, implement, and maintain encryption solutions for databases containing Personally Identifiable Information (PII), ensuring data is protected both at rest and in transit.
Administer encryption keys and integrate databases with enterprise Key Management Systems (KMS) and Hardware Security Modules (HSM).
Implement appropriate encryption methodologies, including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), column-level encryption, and tablespace encryption.
Establish and enforce data masking, tokenization, and role-based access controls for sensitive information.
