The Role
BGC is seeking an Intermediate Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team in Alaska. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary project teams focused on transportation infrastructure and related civil-geotechnical projects. This role involves technical design, analysis, and field work for projects that include slope stabilization, foundations, and earth retention systems. The ideal candidate will have solid field experience, including geotechnical drilling and construction observation, and will be eligible for professional registration within 1 year of hire.
This position is located in Anchorage, AK. Regular travel to other BGC offices and project locations will be required.
Responsibilities
Conduct geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design for geotechnical-related projects, including slope stabilization, earthworks, foundations, and earth retention systems
Prepare technical reports and contribute to proposal development
Complete field logs of boreholes in both soil and rock during subsurface investigations
Perform field inspections and site visits during construction phases
Interpret in-situ and laboratory test results and instrumentation data
Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure quality and technical excellence
Support project delivery, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with internal teams and clients
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff as appropriate
Required Education, Experience & Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
5–8 years of relevant industry experience, or 3–6 years with a master’s degree
Existing Professional Engineer (PE) designation or eligible for registration as a PE in the USA within 1 year of hire
