And so much more.​    ​Come break through with us.   Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Position Summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for development of new products and processes requiring some knowledge of materials and plastics processing. Specific knowledge of fiber optic cable processes, polymeric materials and/or cable design understanding is preferred but not required. Candidate is expected to work well in a team environment to develop cable products/processes to solve customer problems while creating intellectual property.  Day to Day Responsibilities: •    Participate and/or lead regional or global project teams, developing new products and processes to solve customer problems, increase production capacity or cost reduce products.   •    Coordinate development activities with commercial and production groups from project initiation through product transfer. •    Conduct research, propose experiments and analyze data to test hypotheses to enhance understanding of products and processes and to provide Corning with inventive solutions toward new development efforts. •    Design and development of new equipment or modification and optimization of existing equipment needed for cable development designs. •    Identify and investigate new processing techniques to develop innovative cable designs. •    Balance hands-on work-related activities with technical leadership related activities. •    Data collection, interpretation, communicating and documenting results in technical reports and presentations. •    Collaborate with…
