Job Summary:
MaineGeneral Health is seeking an experienced and collaborative Director of Emergency Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for Emergency Nursing Services across our two campuses. In this highly visible leadership role, you'll oversee emergency nursing operations and our Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Program while partnering closely with physicians, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered emergency care. You'll also play an important role in emergency preparedness and ensuring our teams are ready to respond to the evolving needs of the communities we serve. Position Highlights:
Provide leadership and oversight for Emergency Services at both the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta and Thayer Center for Health in Waterville
Oversee emergency nursing operations, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care across both campuses
Provide leadership for MaineGeneral's SAFE program, trauma program, and emergency preparedness initiatives
Collaborate with physicians, nursing leaders, clinical departments, and community partners to support coordinated emergency care
Lead initiatives focused on patient experience, quality, safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance

What You'll Do:
Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orientation, evaluation, disciplinary action, and continuing education initiatives.
Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
What You'll Bring:
Active Maine RN license or eligibility to obtain Maine licensure promptly
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Progressive nursing leadership experience required.
Emergency Department or Emergency Services experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a complex, fast-paced clinical environment.
