About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious Editor in Chief with a PhD in Electronic Engineering to join our in-house editorial team. This exciting role offers the opportunity to drive the growth of engineering content in Advanced Science while helping to shape and develop our expanding portfolio of engineering journals.
This role combines scientific expertise, knowledge of the publishing landscape, and strong communication and networking skills to support the strategic development of one or more journals. The Editor in Chief will work closely with the deputy editors and other editorial functions to raise the journal’s profile and visibility within the community, attract high‑quality submissions, and engage leading researchers worldwide.
The Editor in Chief is expected to participate actively in conferences, institute visits, and broader outreach activities, as well as to manage the peer‑review process and make editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts. Ensuring the adoption of best practices and the highest ethical standards in publishing is a core responsibility of the role.
Job Responsibilities
Strategically develop one or more journals, in collaboration with the in-house Editorial board, from both scientific and publishing perspectives within the broader physical sciences journal portfolio.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with authors, peer reviewers, and editorial board members.
Leverage subject‑matter expertise, professional networks, awareness of field developments, and desk research to drive content acquisition and submissions growth.
Represent Wiley and the physical sciences portfolio at conferences and through in‑person and virtual outreach activities at universities and research institutes.
Collaborate closely with colleagues across departments to support the development and growth of the journal portfolio.
Contribute to editorial assessment, peer‑review management, and decision‑making for manuscripts submitted to one or more journals.
