Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
This is an opportunity for an experienced Finance Business Partner to provide strategic financial analysis, insight and advice across NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA).
Working closely with senior leaders, you will become a trusted advisor who understands their business, operating environment and financial challenges. You will support leaders to make well-informed decisions, manage financial performance and connect operational delivery with annual budgets and longer-term financial objectives.
You will lead financial reporting and provide clear analysis of performance, risks, issues and emerging trends. You will also support budgeting and forecasting, advise on NZTA’s complex funding environment, and ensure business plans, projects and proposals are informed by robust financial insight.
This is a broad and influential role where you will:
prepare meaningful financial reports and insights for senior leaders and key stakeholders
support robust budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
monitor financial performance, identify variances and recommend corrective action
provide advice on funding, business cases, proposals and pricing reviews
build financial capability through coaching, mentoring and targeted learning
strengthen financial processes, policies and tools to simplify work and support better decisions
coach and support junior members of the Finance team

We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $134,000 - $163,000 commensurate with skills and experience.

Our ideal candidate will have some or all of the following, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box:
Significant experience in a senior business accounting or finance business partnering role
Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, month-end reporting, financial systems and financial policy
The ability to analyse complex financial information and turn it into clear, practical advice
Demonstrated strategic thinking and commercial acumen, with the ability to connect financial information to organisational outcomes
Experience facilitating purposeful conversations with senior decision-makers in a complex environment
Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship management, coaching and influencing skills
Confidence using and manipulating financial databases, reporting tools and Microsoft Excel
A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or another business-related discipline
CA ANZ membership, either CA or ACA, or an international equivalent
