The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) offers the opportunity for a motivated and highly skilled professional to join the Finance team of the Administration division in Brussels as a Finance Officer. Here, you will be part of an organisation based on professionalism, cooperation, trust, responsibility and respect. The EFTA Secretariat serves the four EFTA States – Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland – and has offices in Geneva, Brussels and Luxemburg. The Administration Division (ADM) provides internal services and support to the whole organisation, including in the fields of facilities management, finance, human resources and information technology. This position is open to nationals of the EFTA States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland). Division: Administration Division Location: Brussels Type/Duration of appointment: Fixed term three years. If considered desirable and in the organisation’s interest, an additional three-year contract may be offered. Start date: As soon as possible, and no later than 1 March 2027 Job reference: VA 18/2026 Job description The position entails hands-on responsibility for financial control and reporting. The Finance Officer is also expected to be able to lead improvement initiatives within the Administration division. Responsibilities include: · Financial reporting and analysis · Controlling of accounting and coordinating the year-end closure process · Project management of business improvement processes · Overseeing procurement, contract and travel management · Acting as Head of Finance when necessary The financial officer will be a part of the financial department within the administration division and reports directly to the Head of Finance. The department consists of four staff members; the Head of Finance, the Finance Officer and two Finance Coordinators. The financial department is responsible for the financial management of the organization with offices in Brussels, Luxemburg and Geneva, as well as EFTA’s Financial Mechanism Office. Essential Skills · Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or other relevant fields · At least five years of relevant work experience in the fields of financial management, accounting, controlling, audit, and/or consulting · Solid understanding of accounting, controlling, and reporting · Sound knowledge of and experience in using at least one accounting software package, and excellent command of MS Excel · Structured and analytical mindset · Fluency in written and spoken English · Excellent interpersonal skills, engaged, highly motivated, and able to take initiative Ideal Skills · Consulting experience of 2+ years is an advantage · Experience with payroll would be an asset · Experience in…
