There will be occasional in-person Team days in either Bolton or Speke This role plays an important part in protecting The Very Group from the risks associated with money laundering, fraud and wider financial crime. You’ll contribute to ensuring we continue to operate safely, responsibly and in the best interests of our customers and the business. In this position, you’ll review and investigate suspicious transactions, manage alerts with a high level of care and accuracy and make well reasoned decisions that support the integrity of our financial systems. You’ll also work collaboratively with internal teams and law enforcement partners, providing clear and timely information to support ongoing investigations. We’re looking for someone who is naturally inquisitive, calm under pressure and motivated by work that has real purpose. Key responsibilities Review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts, assessing any activity that meets AML or Counter‑Terrorist Financing criteria. Raise and accurately report Suspicious Activity (SARs) and support any follow‑up investigations before submission to the National Crime Agency. Keep up to date with AML, POCA, CTF and JMLSG guidance and apply it confidently. Respond to law‑enforcement enquiries promptly, ensuring GDPR requirements are met every time. Analyse patterns, trends and unusual customer behaviour to identify fraud risks, prevent financial loss and reduce regulatory exposure. Act as a point of reference for colleagues and stakeholders on financial crime detection and prevention. Screen alerts for Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), UN Sanctions and SIPs, using tools and investigation techniques to verify identity and highlight any Adverse Media. Complete regular Enhanced Due Diligence checks on PEPs, RCAs and SIPs retained by the business. About you You have 2–3 years of experience in a financial services, banking or customer‑facing environment. You have previous experience within Fraud Prevention or Financial Crime teams.
