Requirements
Tesla Laboratories is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support Design Technical Support (DTS) services for the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Northwest (NAVFAC NW), Planning Design and Construction Directorate, Design Division (PDC4). This position supports the existing NAVFAC workforce and provides increased capability for Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects and associated efforts undertaken by NAVFAC Northwest customers within the NAVFAC Northwest Area of Responsibility (Puget Sound area).
Perform fire protection engineering tasks for new and existing facilities, including analysis/basis, plans, specifications, calculations, and estimates for acquisition of active and passive fire protection systems, such as:
Water-based fire suppression, standpipe, chemical-based, and gaseous clean agent fire suppression systems.
Fire pump and control systems, water supply and storage systems, firefighting access and fire hydrant systems.
Advanced early warning and conventional fire alarm/detection and mass notification systems, fire alarm reporting systems.
Smoke control/management systems, structural fireproofing systems, and firestop systems.
Nationally recognized testing laboratory requirements, life safety and means of egress systems, fire-resistance-rated construction and opening protective systems.
Facility mutual fire exposure protection, building code allowable facility size regulations, electrical hazard classifications, hazardous material/waste protection, life safety power supply, and marking/illumination of egress systems.
In addition, the Fire Protection Engineer will:
Coordinate with team members to execute project scope, create/manage schedules, and track/brief budget execution in conformance with project and customer requirements.
Create project technical dashboard reports via Microsoft software (Power BI, Project, Excel, etc.).
Facilitate the minimization of project delays by providing technical reviews and recommendations within predetermined timeframes.
Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria, and federal laws/regulations, and provide sound technical recommendations both verbally and in writing.
Apply innovative technical principles, practices, and theories to the resolution of technical issues.
Coordinate with the Government client, NAVFAC team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and various regulatory agencies.
