Founded early 2020s · ~25–30 people · Industry: Healthcare, AI, Enterprise The Role We're helping our client hire Forward Deployed Engineers who will sit between clinical teams and a production AI platform. You'll take rough ideas from physicians and hospital teams, shape them into real AI agents, ship them, and keep them working. This is an early, high-ownership seat on a fast-moving team. What you'll be doing Work directly with physicians, hospital IT, and clinical leads to understand how their workflows run and where they break Turn loosely defined clinical needs into well-scoped, production-ready AI agents Build and deploy agents end to end, including the evaluations that prove they work Keep deployed use cases delivering value by iterating on agents as clinical guidance and operational feedback evolve Own problems from report to fix, often closing the loop in days Tech stack: Python, React, TypeScript, Rust, Kubernetes, AWS, FHIR, LLMs, AI agents, EHR integrations Requirements 1 to 6 years of professional engineering experience in full-stack or forward deployed roles (this isn't a new-grad opening) A bachelor's or master's in computer science, computer engineering, or another STEM field A clear standout signal in your background, such as a degree from a leading CS program, rapid promotion, an early or founding engineering role at a well-known company, or time on a highly selective team Hands-on experience at a fast-growing, venture-backed startup or a company known for its forward deployed engineering model; for more senior candidates, a path from a large tech company into an early-stage or high-growth startup is ideal Solid Python for backend work, plus working frontend skills in React and TypeScript Comfort working directly with customers and owning deployments from discovery through production A stable track record, with meaningful time spent in your recent roles Able to work from the San Francisco office four days a week Nice to Haves Experience as an early employee at a venture-backed startup Background in healthcare or health tech Exposure to Rust and to infrastructure tooling like Kubernetes, Helm, and AWS Why Join Competitive base salary plus equity, with relocation support available Real, end-to-end ownership as one of the first engineers in this role Production AI running inside major health systems, with direct impact on patient care A small, fast-growing team…
