Position Summary:
The Fuels Engineer will evaluate the reliability, resiliency, and redundancy of fuel infrastructure and associated control systems that support federal and military missions. This role requires a strong technical background in fuels systems and related industrial infrastructure, including petroleum, natural gas, coal networks, Defense Fuel Support Points (DFSPs), pipelines, and global fuel distribution systems. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, and interpreting system data; identifying vulnerabilities and cross-infrastructure dependencies; and preparing clear, actionable reports and recommendations. Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills are essential. The Engineer must be able to articulate technical issues to clients and colleagues, deliver formal presentations, and produce professional written reports. Primary clients include organizations within the Department of War (DoW).
Essential Functions:
Participate in planning activities for virtual meetings and site assessments. Review system drawings, specifications, and documentation to verify compliance with applicable standards and operational requirements.
Conduct virtual and on-site assessments of fuels infrastructure to evaluate system condition, configuration, and operational performance. Review mission data and operational guidance to determine asset criticality and identify single points of failure.
Perform field surveys and analyze maps, diagrams, and infrastructure data to identify deficiencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement across fuels networks.
