Why This Role Matters   We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join the Subscriptions team at The Washington Post. This role is centered on building and evolving high-quality customer-facing web experiences while contributing across the full application stack. You will own meaningful features and technical work, collaborate on engineering decisions, and help build reliable, maintainable systems that support our subscription products. The ideal candidate has strong experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript, along with experience in Java - our primary backend language - and Node.js. You should be comfortable working across AWS, CI/CD, production systems, and monorepo-based codebases. We value initiative, collaboration, strong communication, and meaningful day-to-day use of AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development, problem solving, and effectiveness. How You'll Support the Mission Design, build, test, deploy, and operate customer-facing subscription experiences using React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript. Contribute to frontend engineering decisions involving component design, state management, performance, accessibility, testing, and maintainability. Build and integrate with backend services and APIs, primarily in Java, while contributing to Node.js services, tooling, and automation where appropriate. Own features and technical solutions from implementation through deployment, observability, production support, and continuous improvement.
