Your opportunity
Are you interested in exploration geology and motivated by turning geological knowledge into new discoveries? As an exploration geologist at Garpenberg, you will contribute to the discovery and development of future mineral resources. You will be part of an experienced exploration team where your geological expertise and perspectives help shape how we explore and identify new opportunities.
The position is based in Garpenberg, a full-time position with regular office hours, Monday to Friday.
Who you will work with
You will join the Garpenberg Exploration team, where you will become one of six geologists. The team works collaboratively while giving each person the opportunity to take responsibility for their own work and priorities.
Your network will extend beyond the immediate team. You will work closely with Mine Geology in Garpenberg and collaborate with colleagues and consultants across Boliden's wider Exploration organisation, including geologists and geophysicists from other Boliden sites. Depending on the project, you will also interact with drilling contractors, environmental and permitting specialists, landowners and other stakeholders.
What you will do
Your work will span different stages of the exploration process, combining field-based geology with interpretation, modelling and project activities. You will use geological information to build knowledge, identify exploration potential and support well-informed decisions as projects move forward.
Key responsibilities are:
Evaluate geological data and develop exploration ideas and targets.
Plan and conduct geological fieldwork, including bedrock mapping and geochemical sampling.
Log and interpret drill core and integrate new findings with existing geological information.
Plan and coordinate exploration drilling together with colleagues and contractors.
Interpret and model geological data using GIS, Leapfrog and other relevant tools.
Document and communicate exploration results through maps, geological models, presentations and technical reports.
Contribute to safe, responsible and well-planned exploration activities.
What you bring
Qualifications are:
University degree in Geology, Geoscience or an equivalent relevant field.
Several years of relevant professional experience in mineral exploration, including practical field experience.
Experience in drill core logging.
Experience using GIS and geological modelling software such as Leapfrog, or relevant comparable software.
