About this opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead the company's accounting and financial reporting functions. The Financial Controller will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records, overseeing the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations, and providing accurate financial information to senior management to support business decisions.
The successful candidate will be a strong technical accountant and commercially minded finance professional with excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Accounting
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions
Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and other accounting functions
Lead and improve the month-end and year-end closing processes
Prepare financial reports, management accounts, and variance analyses for senior management
Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies
Review account reconciliations and investigate unusual or significant variances
Financial Controls & Compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal financial controls and accounting policies
Ensure compliance with applicable statutory, regulatory, and reporting requirements
Monitor financial processes to identify risks, control weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement
Coordinate with external auditors, banks, and other financial stakeholders
Support internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings
Budgeting & Financial Planning
Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes
Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts
Provide meaningful analysis of financial performance, trends, and variances
Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance and cost management
Assist senior management with financial modeling, business cases, and strategic analysis
Leadership & Process Improvement
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team
Establish clear objectives, processes, and performance standards for the finance function
Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting and reporting processes
What you’ll need
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, ACA, CMA, or equivalent is preferred
Typically 5-10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including experience in a supervisory or management role
