ABOUT THE ROLE
TransAlta is seeking an experienced Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical (IC&E) Technician to join our Kingston Cogeneration team.
Reporting to the O&M Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of the plant's electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. Working as part of a cross-functional Operations and Maintenance team, the IC&E Technician supports preventive and corrective maintenance programs, outage activities, inventory management, and continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to the safe and reliable operation of the facility.
This is full-time, salaried, safety sensitive position based out of our Kingston Generating station in Kingston, Ontario .
A DAY IN THE LIFE
Perform electrical, instrumentation, and control systems maintenance to support plant reliability and availability.
Maintain safety and environmental monitoring equipment in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Support major maintenance outages and long-range equipment maintenance planning.
Utilize CMMS and document management systems to maintain accurate maintenance records.
Manage maintenance materials, inventory requirements, and purchasing activities.
Coordinate and oversee contractors and suppliers for assigned work scopes.
Contribute to maintenance procedures, equipment improvement initiatives, and risk management activities.
Support NERC compliance requirements, audits, inspections, and quality assurance programs.
Provide technical support to Operations and collaborate across the site to achieve plant performance targets.
ABOUT YOU
Journeyperson certification in Instrumentation, Instrument/Electrician, Electrician, or Power Electrician.
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience maintaining electrical, instrumentation, and control systems in power generation or a related industrial environment.
Availability to participate in an on-call and emergency call-in rotation.
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
