Job Summary: The City of Virginia Beach is seeking a knowledgeable and customer‑focused IT Analyst to support the planning, maintenance, and optimization of technology solutions that enable efficient city operations and high‑quality public services. This role provides technical expertise, system support, and analytical insight to ensure city departments can effectively use technology to meet operational and community needs. Responsibilities: Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for city systems, applications, and end‑user technologies. Analyze system performance, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend enhancements aligned with city standards. Assist with the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of hardware, software, and enterprise applications. Support system upgrades, patches, and integrations in coordination with IT teams and vendors. Document system configurations, procedures, and technical workflows in accordance with city guidelines. Monitor system availability, security, and performance to ensure reliable service delivery. Collaborate with city departments to understand operational needs and translate them into technical requirements. Assist with data analysis, reporting, and information management tasks. Participate in IT projects, including planning, testing, implementation, and user training. Ensure compliance with municipal policies, cybersecurity standards, and state regulations Requirements: Must be a US citizen. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; OR 4 or more years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree. 2–5+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or technical analysis. Strong understanding of hardware, software, networking fundamentals, and enterprise applications. Experience troubleshooting technical issues and supporting end users. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Familiarity with IT service management principles and ticketing systems. Commitment to customer service and public‑sector values. Successful background and drug screening check. Preferred Requirements: Experience working in local government or public‑sector IT environments.
