Job Description
We are looking for a LaPorte Juvenile Teaching Assistant to support educational programming within a juvenile correctional facility by supervising students, reinforcing classroom instruction, monitoring student progress, and maintaining a safe and productive learning environment. This position will be Full-Time and Onsite in LaPorte, IN .
Only work authorizations that will not require sponsorship now or in the future will be considered.
What You’ll Do
Supervise students in the classroom in the absence of the classroom teacher
Take attendance and monitor student behavior, assignments, and daily records
Provide guidance and support to students in completing assignments left by the classroom teacher
Maintain a positive learning environment that supports student growth and development
Implement daily and weekly lesson plans designed by the classroom teacher when required
Evaluate and monitor student achievement and progress
Follow established policies and procedures during critical incidents to prevent injury, escape, or property damage
Maintain confidentiality of student and facility information
Collaborate with educational staff and other departments to enhance student learning outcomes
Prepare written reports and participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
Promote positive working relationships with students, staff, contractors, interns, volunteers, and community partners
Attend and successfully complete all required training, certifications, and professional development activities
Operate and maintain job-related equipment, educational supplies, and instructional materials
Perform related duties as assigned
What You'll Need
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience working with students in an educational, correctional, behavioral health, youth services, or related environment
Ability to effectively manage and control a classroom environment
Ability to implement teacher-developed lesson plans and instructional activities
