Maintenance Engineer (Electrical bias)
Position Summary
We have great a opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join Swegon on a weekend only shift pattern, the hours for this role are Friday to Sunday 06:00 - 18:00 with a 30 minute unpaid break each shift. The focus of this role is to provide electrical expertise and hands-on maintenance support to keep machinery, plant and facilities safe and reliable. Deliver planned preventative maintenance, breakdown response and improvements with support at our Waterloo site and to other Swegon sites as required.
This is a broad maintenance role with an electrical bias. The successful candidate must undertake routine servicing, mechanical repairs and general site maintenance within their competence, alongside electrical work, according to site priorities and team needs. This role is based on site at our location in Snodland; Kent. C andidates would therefore need to be based in or around this area or be willing to travel to this and other locations each day, as required by the business.
Main duties and responsibilities
Complete planned maintenance, inspections and servicing, including cleaning, lubrication, adjustments and component replacement.
Diagnose and repair electrical faults on machinery, motors, drives, sensors and control circuits using drawings and test equipment.
Respond to breakdowns, identify causes, complete effective repairs and support safe return to production; escalate where necessary.
Carry out routine mechanical repairs within competence, including bearings, belts, chains, guards and pneumatic components.
Undertake general building and facilities maintenance, and support equipment installation, machinery moves and engineering projects.
Follow safe isolation, lock-off procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work; leave equipment and work areas safe and tidy.
Complete electrical installation, inspection, testing or design work only where appropriately qualified, competent and authorised.
Record work completed, faults, parts used and follow-up actions in the maintenance system; identify spare-part requirements.
Investigate repeat failures and help improve equipment reliability and preventative maintenance routines.
Work with maintenance colleagues, production teams and contractors; communicate priorities, downtime and repair progress clearly.
Support and coordinate contractors as directed, assist other departments and sites, and share knowledge on equipment care.
Essential Experience
Minimum five years’ industrial maintenance experience, including electrical fault-finding, breakdown repairs and planned maintenance
Ability to read electrical schematics and diagnose faults on industrial motors, drives and control systems.
Practical ability and willingness to undertake routine mechanical repairs and general maintenance within competence.
