Purpose
The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the general accounting and financial reporting activities for designated Liberty Utilities operations. This role oversees the month-end close process, balance sheet integrity, regulatory accounting requirements, financial reporting, audit support, and accounting compliance activities while ensuring adherence to established accounting policies and controls.
Reporting to the Director, Accounting, they provide leadership and development for a team of accounting professionals, partners closely with Finance, Regulatory, Operations, Customer Service, and other R2R teams, and drives continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery.
The successful candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with leadership capability, business partnership skills, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Accountabilities
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages.
Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting analyses.
Monitor close performance metrics and drive improvements to reduce cycle times and enhance quality.
Ensure compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
Support regulatory filings, rate applications, and related accounting analyses.
Regulatory experience and FERC/NARUC expertise/compliance
Interpret and apply regulatory accounting guidance as required.
Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX controls, and company policies, where applicable.
Assist with implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate responses to regulatory, audit, and financial information requests.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants and accounting analysts.
