The Manager, Operations Training leads NPL’s operations training program to develop the technical skills, safety knowledge, and field readiness of employees supporting natural gas utility construction. This role oversees training delivery, coordinates instructors and field personnel, and ensures company policies and construction and pipeline safety practices are incorporated throughout the program.
Working closely with regional leadership, Superintendents, and Foremen, the manager aligns training with operational needs, establishes and tracks program benchmarks, and reports progress to leadership. The position supports consistent work practices, employee development, and continuous improvement in training effectiveness and field performance.
This position is primarily based at our main training facility in Manassas, VA, where the majority of the individual’s time will be spent. Candidates in the Washington, DC metropolitan area are preferred, as the role works closely with regional leadership as operations expand.
What You'll Do
Manage and oversee all aspects of the Operations Training Program
Ensure that participants and instructors follow all policies and procedures
Establish, track and report benchmarks and progress of the program
Coordinate field personnel with instructors
Ensure that all safety policies are incorporated in every level of development
Works closely with Superintendents and Foremen to maximize the efficiencies of the program
Perform other duties as requested by leadership
What You'll Have
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
5 year’s experience in the utility industry or equivalent combination of education and experience
5-7 year’s experience leading instructor led training
Must have strong understanding of construction and pipeline safety policies and procedures
OSHA 30 and Competent Person Training preferred
Excellent communication skills, ability to present theory and concepts, as well as hands-on technical instruction with clarity, confidence and enthusiasm required
