Job Objective:
Plans and manages the services of the Physical Therapy (PT) department in accordance with applicable Federal, State and Local Regulatory Agency policies, rules and standards. Manages daily operations and leads strategic planning for development of therapy programs, budgets, policies & procedures and educational activities. Assures quality therapy care via performance improvement and quality assurance and provides effective consultation to other healthcare providers.
Job Description:
Education: Required: Bachelor’s degree or higher level degree in Physical Therapy (PT) if hired after July 1, 2026 Preferred: Master’s degree or Doctorate degree in PT Licensure/Certification: Required: Licensed by the PT Board of the State of California; American Heart Association BLS Experience: Required: Four (4) years of Physical Therapist experience Preferred: Leadership experience
Reports To: Rehabilitation Service Line Administrator Supervises: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, Rehabilitation Aides, Patient Admitting Specialists and Volunteers Ages of Patients: Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric Blood Borne Pathogens: Moderate Potential
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Ability to analyze data, read and interpret financial reports, Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information, Ability to critically analyze a situation and demonstrate decision making skills, Ability to develop and maintain interdepartmental relationships, Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines, Advanced physical therapy skills, Knowledge, skills, and ability to administer all department modalities, programs, and protocols appropriate to the age of the patients served, Knowledge of all phases of physical therapy operations, Knowledge of financial and productivity standards to ensure sound fiscal management that are consistent with organization goals, Knowledge of regulations regarding various governing agencies (CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, CLIA), Written and verbal communication skills

1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. In collaboration with Rehabilitation Services leadership, develops departmental goals and objectives.
3. Establishes, implements and maintains policies and procedures for department operation.
4. Determines qualifications, competence levels of staff and standards of performance.
5. Selects, train/orients, manages, coaches, evaluates, and counsels staff.
