Your mission
Our significantly growing Data, AI & MarTech Department is looking for a Marketing Tech Engineer to own Smartbroker's marketing data end-to-end. Marketing invests across many channels and our four financial portals and needs reliable data to know what works. You build that foundation: from web, app and server-side tracking and marketing data sources to the dbt models behind attribution, campaign performance and activation. You work at the intersection of Marketing, Analytics, Product and our Data Platform team, in a regulated financial environment where data quality and privacy really matter. Your models directly shape how we steer marketing budget and growth. Join us and play a major role in promoting and enabling a truly data-driven marketing culture across the organisation!
Job description:
Connect and maintain marketing data sources (e.g. Funnel.io, AppsFlyer, Google Ads, Apple Search Ads, Meta, affiliates) in BigQuery
Design, implement and maintain web, app and server-side tracking via Google Tag Manager, with consent and privacy built in
Build and own dbt models for campaigns, attribution and marketing performance, used for reporting and activation
Keep pipelines trustworthy through tests, data quality monitoring, documentation and code review in our data mono repo
Translate marketing needs into clear data requirements and align on priorities with Marketing, Analytics and Product
Troubleshoot data and tracking issues and share your knowledge with the team

Degree in computer science, natural sciences, data science or a comparable field
Several years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering or marketing/tracking engineering
Strong SQL and Python skills for data transformation, tooling and automation
Hands-on experience with dbt (models, tests, sources, docs) and BigQuery or a similar cloud warehouse
Practical experience with web and app tracking, especially server-side tracking via Google Tag Manager
Experience with marketing data: ad platforms, marketing connectors and attribution/MMP tools such as AppsFlyer
Good understanding of legal requirements for tracking and data protection (GDPR, consent management)
Familiarity with orchestration (e.g. Airflow) and software engineering best practices: Git, code review, CI/CD, testing and monitoring
Experience with GCP services (Pub/Sub, Cloud Run) or Firebase is a plus
Proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a strong sense of ownership
Clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues; excellent English, German is a plus
Interest in finance and fintech, team player with a sense of humour
