Overview Under the direction of the Manager or designee, provides leadership and technical expertise, coordinates workflow, manages staff scheduling and performs training and quality activities. Ensures that testing is completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with regulatory guidelines and organizational policies and procedures. Perform the essential functions of the Technologist Schedule: This full-time position will work on 2nd shift, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm, 5 days a week to include rotating weekends and holidays as required. Based upon when hours are worked, position may include a 2nd shift and weekend differential of $3.50 - $8.00 per hour. Ensures efficiency and productivity by monitoring the production status and directing the workflow and people resources to meet deadlines and standards Participates in validation, projects and monitoring key performance indicators Provides leadership and technical expertise for the department helping to resolve issues associated with protocol, equipment, interpretation of test results and system interfaces Completes employee departmental orientation, competency testing, compliance training and other mandatory instruction Ensures that all QC/QA procedures, maintenance schedules, instrument calibration and function checks and other regulatory inspection agency requirements are followed Performs Medical Technologist bench work as needed Participates in the ongoing monitoring for each testing process to identify errors or potential problems leading to errors and takes effective and preventive corrective actions when indicated Participates in an on-call rotation May take over some functions in the absence of the department manager or supervisor. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in a biological science or related field from an accredited college or university. Three (3) or more years in a clinical laboratory, preferably blood banking, environment or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Two (2) years’ experience in a OneBlood laboratory CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS: In Florida, a valid and current Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license in Immunohematology or Blood Banking; supervisor license preferred.
