Job Title : Melting Operator
Division: Weir ESCO
Location : Newton
2nd Shift | 4-day workweek (10-hour shifts) with overtime and occasional Fridays as needed.
Purpose of Role: Responsible for melting steel to a molten bath, must be familiar with the equipment used in maintaining or repairing the refractory lining of the furnace and with the furnace refractory requirements, and will use this equipment to maintain the refractory coating on the inside of the furnace at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
Checks the condition of the furnace and verifies the proper charge is placed in the furnace
Activates the electronic heat log steps in the melting subsystem on the computer
Follows the sequence and requirements specified
Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture
Job Expectations:
Have a good attendance record
Ensure work area is clean and free of any hazards
Tapping on pitch and updating pitch boards
Data collection
Have a good work ethic
Maintain a positive attitude in the workplace at all times
Participate in lean initiatives (6S, Visual Management, Kaizen)
Perform other duties as directed by company
Comfortable working in extreme heat conditions typical of furnace operations
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma/GED
Experience: Minimum 1 year of manufacturing or industrial production experience
Ability to work second shift and 10-hour shifts with overtime flexibility
