Join Idaho National Laboratory's Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) for a hands-on internship in nuclear fuel development. You'll work alongside engineers and scientists on advanced nuclear fuels and materials, gaining real experience with metallurgical processing, powder metallurgy, and irradiation experiment assembly. Potential projects include uranium alloy casting and heat treating, spark plasma sintering and additive manufacturing, and materials characterization using SEM, XRD, and optical microscopy. You'll also support irradiation experiment qualification, CAD design, and technical documentation. Open to undergraduate and graduate students in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics. Onsite at MFC near Idaho Falls, Idaho, on a 4x10 schedule.
