The Work
The Optometrist will provide full-scope primary optometric care at a healthcare facility. This role will serve as a critical member of the healthcare team, providing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic care in compliance with our client’s healthcare standards, and the American Optometric Association (AOA) guidelines.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Provide full-scope primary optometric care in accordance with AOA clinical guidelines and community standards of care.
Perform detailed patient evaluations, including:
Visual acuity testing (distance, near, and pinhole vision)
Color vision assessments
Contrast sensitivity testing
Refraction (manual, automated, retinoscopy)
Keratometry and lensometry
External and slit lamp examinations
Ocular motility, binocular coordination, and accommodation tests
Funduscopic examinations, applanation tonometry, corneal topography, pachymetry, glare assessment, wave-scan analysis using VISX equipment, and night vision testing.
Diagnose and manage visual and ocular conditions with therapeutic pharmaceutical agents (TPAs) as certified.
Accurately transcribe information into patient medical records, including:
Past ocular history, allergies, and adverse drug reactions
Detailed written assessments, diagnoses, and recommendations
Patient education and follow-up plan with appropriate documentation, signature, and provider stamp.
Utilize three years of extensive refractive surgery experience and/or training from a certified refractive surgery residency.
Conduct detailed refractive surgery evaluations, including analyzing results from topography, pentacam, epithelial mapping, anterior chamber depth, and other diagnostic tests.
Assess candidate suitability for procedures such as LASIK, PRK, Corneal Crosslinking, Implantable Collamer Lens, and Clear Lens Exchange.
Identify and counsel patients on contraindications for refractive surgery.
Collect, organize, and submit outcome data and case report forms for compliance, liaising with the FDA and client set protocols.
Adhere to strict infection control guidelines and practice universal precautions.
Ensure safe and effective operation of clinical diagnostic equipment and compliance with safety protocols, including emergency procedures and hazardous material handling.
Explain procedures, test results, and treatment options effectively to patients in person and via phone.
Provide accurate documentation of medications, including types, dosage, time administered, and any adverse reactions observed.
