Responsible for facilitation of potentially disruptive interactions with patients, parents, family members, caregivers, and staff. Collaborates with fellow staff to identify and plan actions for disruptive patients or situations. Develops and conducts security training for hospital staff. Creates and distributes reports for review by departmental management.
Job Responsibilities:
Actively participate in the investigations on various activities and incidents(e.g., accidents, trespassing, suspicious activities, safety & fire incidents), ensuring appropriate lawful action; Document and record security investigations.
Responsible for facilitation of potentially disruptive interactions with different stakeholders (e.g., patients, parents, family members, caregivers, staff).
Contribute to the development and implementation of security training programs.
Responsible for creating and distributing reports for review to relevant stakeholders.
Control and monitor surveillance equipment; Perform building and equipment inspections.
Mentor and coach less experienced team members to ensure department goals are being met.
Facilitates interactions with patients, parents, families, caregivers, and staff to prevent disruptive behavior that could lead to workplace violence.
Collaborates with Social Work, Psychology, nursing teams, and other caregivers as necessary to proactively identify potentially disruptive behavior within patient census and create strategies and plans to minimize the potential of an event occurring.
De-escalates disruptive behavior and manages conflicts as they arise.
Develops and conducts training for fellow staff members on workplace violence, domestic violence, active shooter situations, etc.
Creates metrics and reporting to measure departmental objectives and distributes to management as necessary.
Assists the Security Dept. in Environment of Care Risk Assessments.
Collaborates with other members of the Security Management team to facilitate departmental goals and objectives.
Collaborates with other members of the Security Management team to develop departmental learning and development.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet goals and objectives of the department and institution.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
High School diploma/GED required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Bachelors degree with 4+ years of security related experience (e.g., security program, police organization, military branch, conflict counselling) preferably in a hospital, government or corporate security program or police organization or High School diploma/GED with 8+ years experience.
Some customer service and conflict resolution experience, preferred.
Some experience in Investigation management, training and community relations, preferred.
Some experience with security equipment and surveillance systems.
