At The Energy Authority (TEA) , our interns are treated as valued members of the team. As a Power Modeling Engineer Intern , you'll work alongside industry experts to develop and enhance power system models, analyze transmission networks, forecast energy prices, and explore the rapidly evolving energy landscape. From renewable generation and battery storage to transmission planning and market optimization, you'll gain hands-on experience solving the kinds of challenges that shape the future of the electric grid. To maximize your learning and project ownership, interns must be available for a minimum commitment of two semesters (up to one year). What You'll Do Build & Enhance Power Models Assist in refining and maintaining network models across multiple energy markets. Research and integrate datasets used in optimal power flow (OPF) and production cost modeling. Develop and maintain a repository of transmission upgrades to improve network model accuracy. Automate simulation schedules and workflows to evaluate system sensitivities more efficiently. Analyze System Impacts Evaluate how new generation, battery storage, transmission projects, and large electrical loads influence future energy prices.
