The Challenge Ahead The Legacy Assets Canada Projects team is responsible for the safe and effective delivery of capital projects across BHP’s legacy sites in Canada. As Principal Projects, you will play a key leadership role in planning and delivering projects from concept through to construction and handover, ensuring strong outcomes across safety, scope, schedule, quality, budget and stakeholder engagement. This is an opportunity to lead meaningful projects that contribute to environmental stewardship, mine closure, reclamation and asset management across multiple Canadian locations. You will partner with contractors, consultants, regulators, community stakeholders and internal teams to deliver projects that create long-term value while maintaining the highest safety standards. Working in a dynamic environment, you will bring practical project delivery expertise, strong field execution capability and a collaborative leadership style that supports continuous improvement and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Lead the planning and execution of capital projects across BHP’s Legacy Assets sites in Canada. Manage contractor onboarding, mobilization, field supervision and contract performance to support safe and efficient project delivery. Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, risk and overall performance throughout the project lifecycle. Provide visible field leadership to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved plans, permits, specifications and BHP standards. Coordinate and influence a broad range of stakeholders including contractors, consultants, regulators, community representatives and internal functions. Support risk identification, assessment and mitigation while promoting informed decision-making and continuous improvement. Lead procurement activities including scope development, tendering, bid evaluation and contractor selection. Review engineering drawings, specifications and construction plans to enhance constructability, execution efficiency and risk management. Provide project reporting, performance updates and leadership throughout project execution. Foster a culture built on safety, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
