Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Job is with OCS Division Engineering APAC Regional Engineering based in Asia to support all Optical Commercial Solutions (OCS) plants. Project assignment may involve travel percentage from 25~50% between Taiwan, China, North America, and Europe. Building strong technical linkage with Division Engineering groups in North America, and Europe and leading vendors responsible for building manufacturing process equipment/systems for Corning Incorporated.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide engineering analysis expertise to project teams responsible for delivering robust, cost-effective equipment, automation, and machine systems to Corning’s manufacturing plants and processes on time.
• Lead and work with APAC project team members to track and resolve automation system- and equipment-related issues, while developing a basic understanding of process requirements.
• Define and document equipment design specifications; develop equipment design concepts; design and oversee the construction of prototype and production equipment; conduct proof-of-concept tests; collect and evaluate data; and make engineering recommendations.
• Interface with external machine builders, system integrators, and suppliers to specify and successfully deliver fully integrated equipment systems to internal customers on time, within budget, and in accordance with process performance requirements.
• Actively participate in system integration, checkout, installation, debugging, production start-up, and plant personnel training.
